Background
The Trust was established in Shropshire in 1978 by Roy Fletcher for the benefit of young, disadvantaged or elderly people living in Shropshire.

Today
The Trust focuses on supporting projects and organisations which will benefit young, elderly, underprivileged, or socially/physically disadvantaged people, both in Shropshire and further afield.

The Trustees consider applications three times a year.

Donation guidelines
1.  Projects from Shropshire charities for the benefit of Shropshire people.
2.  Preference for single donation without an on-going commitment.
3.  Preference for schemes which will achieve broad community benefits.
4.  Priority towards projects, charities or organisations involved with:
       a.    Youth and elderly.
       b.   Underprivileged – financially or socially.
       c.   Educationally disadvantaged.
       d.   Mentally or physically disabled.
       e.   Projects with long-lasting and on-going benefits to the community.

5.   Applications not normally considered include:
       a.   Projects where adequate funding is available elsewhere.
       b.   Applicants who are not raising funds elsewhere.
       c.   National charities requesting general fund raising.
